    Dr. Fielding

Jessicca Fielding is one of our amazing Veterinarians here at NVS. Jessicca attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College where she obtained her undergraduate degree; she then went on to Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI where she graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. Jessicca promptly moved to Fort McMurray and fell in love with the community, the people and the surrounding nature. Knowing just how important the need for pet care in the region is, she decided to open Northern Veterinary Services in 2019. Jessicca has been blessed with the BEST team of superhumans who are just as passionate about caring for the animals in our wonderful community.

Jessicca migrated to Fort McMurray with a small crew of pets, including Cajun, her GSD, who is now 12 years old, and Ares and Breaca, her 14 and 13 year old kitties. She now also has Falcon, a 6 year old GSD, Dick, a 4 year old Alaskan Husky and Oscar, an 8 month old Fort McMurray ‘special’, as well as Rue, a 6 year old 3-legged rescue kitty, Panic, a pint sized 5 year old rescue Devon Rex, and Floki, the holy terror of sassy iguanas who was also a rescue. Outside the home lives Thor, a ginormous Percheron. If she could add to her crew Jessicca has always wanted a Friesian. Jessicca’s hobbies include trail running, horseback riding and drinking wine ;)

Dr.Fielding stresses the importance of keeping cats indoors when asked what animal issue she is passionate about. Roaming house cats have wreaked havoc on our wild bird population, not to mention the plethora of severe health risks to the cat just from being outside at all. Jessicca urges owners to reconsider the risks & legalities before letting your pet roam.

Jessicca is passionate about providing veterinary care to not just dogs and cats, but all the exotic, equine, farm, and wild animals in YMM. One of her many goals is to provide the best possible care to ALL of the species and to “continue my education so I can further benefit those patients that may be a bit different”.

Dr.Fielding truly strives to give the best possible care to all her patients, she truly takes the time to make sure your pet is comfortable and calm to the best of her ability. Jessicca consistently aims to maintain a happy and positive based experience for her clients and their pets whenever they come for a visit.

To help with the more stressful moments Jessicca takes a deep breath and tackles the next case. Dr.Fielding is passionate about the human animal bond and has committed herself to honoring that bond by maintaining the health of animals to the best of her ability.
We are extremely fortunate to have Dr.Fielding as a DVM & business owner here in YMM, and are so grateful to be able to work alongside her!

    Dr. Landsbergen

Tara Landsbergen is one of our incredible Veterinarians here at NVS. Tara attended the University of Alberta where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Health before continuing on to the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) to obtain her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Tara graduated in 2018 from UCVM with the highest level of distinction which is the UCVM Gold Medal.

Tara is originally from Reuver, The Netherlands, then moved to Namibia, Africa for a portion of her childhood. Tara then moved to Sundre, Alberta where she completed secondary school at Sundre High School. She officially moved to Fort Mcmurray in 2018. Prior to moving here, she travelled back and forth to Fort Mcmurray to visit her fiancé, Adam. Together they are paw-rents to their 2 year old mixed breed dog named Chip, and their Australian Cattle Dog named Remi, who is 1.5yrs old. They are very handsome boys!

Tara takes pride in being a part of the companionship between owners and their pets, helping to ensure the longest and highest quality of relationship between them. As a veterinarian, each day will bring new challenges and situations. In the more difficult moments, Tara reminds herself to always look ahead and strive to make a positive impact on others lives. These different challenges presented to Tara is also one of her favorite things about being a DVM.

Wildlife conservation is extremely important to Dr.Landsbergen, now more than ever given the massive fires throughout Australia and Brazil. Tara also worked at a wildlife rehabilitation center before pursuing Veterinary school. She grew up around many animals and has had the pleasure of owning horses, goats, chickens, cows and more. If she was to be able to have any animal she would choose a Highland cow because they are furry and sweet!

During the time Tara is not at work, she enjoys travelling, finding new adventures and spending time with her dogs and family! Tara is a total foodie and always has the best snacks, which is perfect since she is also a movie lover. Whether attending vet school, exploring new countries, working on her patients or talking with a client, Tara always gives 120%! Tara is passionate about all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, but has a special interest in equine medicine, dermatology (skin) & ophthalmology (eyes). She plans to continuously improve her knowledge and skills in all aspects of her career. Tara is a wonderful example of a dedicated doctor who truly gives her all to her clients and their pets, and we couldn't be more grateful to have her on the NVS team!

    Ashlee

Ashlee is one of our wonderful Registered Veterinary Technicians. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in King City, Ontario in 2011. She has been a Veterinary Technician for 9 years. Ashlee was born & raised in Toronto, Ontario and moved to Fort Mcmurray in August 2016. Ashlee and her Fiance Tony are paw-rents to their 2 cats, Turtle who is a 10 year old diabetic sweetheart and Leela who is a 3 year old one eyed wonder! Ashlee aspires to expand her vet tech skills to the fullest extent with all species of animals. On the rougher days Ashlee reminds herself the value in the relationships she gets to make with owners and their pets everyday. Whether furry, scaly, feathered, large or small she enjoys the real connection that comes from treating a beloved pet and creating a bond with the owners. She also enjoys being kept on her toes in such a fast-paced environment and the opportunities to learn and advance her skills everyday. Ashlee is an awesome team member, she is always ready for the next challenge whether big or small. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is always calm and level headed. She has been a really great addition to our team! Always wanted a spider monkey. Loves horror movies and Halloween and on her time off Netflix and chill.

    Becky

Becky is one of our fantastic Veterinary Technicians, she graduated from Thompson Rivers University in December of 2019. Becky is originally from North Sydney, Nova Scotia but has lived in Fort Mcmurray for 13 years, now with her husband Dave. Becky enjoys helping animals wherever possible, and is always willing to do whatever it takes to make an animal feel better. She has a lot of experience in shelter medicine as well as surgery and small animal practice. Becky strives to continuously learn new things in her field, and advance her skills as a Technician. When she is having a rough day Becky reminds herself of her own cat at home, named Sphynx who is always up for a snuggle and shows his love by cuddling up next to his favorite human. Sphynx is 11 years old and was adopted from the SPCA 9 years ago, he is a very sweet boy! Becky loves all cats, big and small, so if she could have any pet in the world she would choose a large cat, lions, tigers or even cheetahs; they would all make great siblings for Sphynx! Beckys love for cats stems from a young age, her grandfather always made sure the stray cats of their town in Nova Scotia were fed and taken care of, Becky was of course always there to help her grandpa with the feeding and carried that passion right into her career as a Veterinary Technician. On her time off Becky enjoys relaxing and spending time with her family. Becky is a fantastic technician and we are lucky to have her on the team!

    Brady

Brady is a newer employee here at Northern Veterinary Services. He is one of our fantastic Patient Care Coordinators, also known as a Veterinary Assistant. Brady is originally from Hawthorne, California and moved to Fort McMurray in May 2019 to be with his wife Stacey! He graduated from the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Program at UCLA in 2011, and completed El Camino Fire Academy in 2014. Most of Brady’s professional background is in human medical care, but he is very excited to be switching to the animal side of healthcare. Brady enjoys being a Patient Care Coordinator for many reasons, but mainly loves how fast paced the work environment is; truly never a dull moment and always a new skill to learn or improve on (and of course all the kittens). Brady and his wife have two beautiful kitties named Dio who is 1 year old & Champ who is estimated to be 3 years old! If Brady could have any animal in the world as a pet he would choose a fox because they seem like the perfect combination of both felines and canines.

During Brady’s time off you can usually find him training for his next obstacle course race. Spartan Race is his go-to event! When he’s not training he likes to play a good video game, or continue learning Japanese online which he started recently. Brady is extremely comical and always has the best corny joke or line if you need a laugh (sorry Brady); he is also awesome to have around to reach for anything on high shelves for the rest of the team.

All jokes aside, Brady is a great addition to the team and is a fantastic Patient Care Coordinator here at NVS!

As a Patient Care Coordinator Amy enjoys keeping clients happy and on schedule to help maintain their fur-babies health. She believes strongly in the importance of spaying and neutering pets to help take some of the pressure off of overwhelmed animal shelters.

Amy enjoys her pets as emotional therapy and companionship and they help her get through the toughest days. When Amy isn’t at the clinic she enjoys spending time at her barn with her horse, riding & training. She is also a talented home decor artist and spends a lot of time with her family. Taylor

Taylor is one of our Patient Care Coordinators, also known as a Veterinary Assistant. Taylor is a Fort McMurray Original! She was born and raised here, and while having been quite the world traveller, she continues to call Fort McMurray home. In 2020, Taylor graduated from the Veterinary Assistant Certification program through Ashworth College, however she was already rocking the job here at NVS! Her favorite part of her job is the relationships she makes with both the patients and their human companions. Her goals are to educate herself as much as possible on the various species we see, so that she is better able to help the patients, clients and her coworkers to the best of her ability. However Taylor’s goals do not stop here. While truly wanting to learn “All the Things,” she also aspires to become a registered Veterinary Technician!

Taylor has always been passionate about animals. She loves and cares for a number of her own critters, including pups, Hunter, an 8 year old lab x, Kallie, a 4 year old Rottie x, and Blue, a petite 2 year old mixed breed, kitties Nox and Archie, geckos Norbert, Atlas and Gek, and guinea pigs Paddington and Nesta. If Taylor could add to her collection of critters, she would love to have a New Caledonian Gecko, and a Galapagos Giant Tortoise. Taylor has a number of hobbies. She loves camping and fishing in the summer as well as hiking, reading & art. Taylor is also a very talented photographer. Did you know that ALL the photographs featured around the clinic, as well as the team photos, were taken by Taylor?!

Taylor tackles tough days with the right attitude: “You need the bad days to appreciate the good ones, and I just do whatever I can to find the good side of every situation.” You can often hear Taylor’s laughter throughout the clinic, and she is always bringing joy and a positive energy to the workplace! Taylor is our go-to girl for exotic pet husbandry. She is passionate about appropriate cage sizes, enrichment and the proper care of those critters who are just a little bit different. Taylor is also an advocate for spaying and neutering pets to reduce the burden on shelters, and feels strongly about proper training and socialization of dogs to keep them safe, happy and healthy.

Taylor really wants everyone to know just how caring and passionate vet assistants are. “I treat every pet I work with like it is my own. I will advocate for your pets health, space, comfort and needs when they are in my care. I have such a desire to help the animals in any way I can. My career and patients are my priority”

We think she is doing a darn good job!!

    Mallory

Mallory has recently stepped into a new role here at NVS. From one of our lovely Assistants to a wonderful Assistant Practice Manager! So far, she is loving her new position. Mallory completed her Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist course at Academy Canada in 2013. Mallory was born and raised in Port Aux Basques, NL and moved to Fort McMurray in 2019 to join the NVS team! Mallory strives to maintain a calm and efficient environment in the clinic for clients, staff and pets, as she values the importance of limiting fear for future visits. Mallory enjoys the fast paced work environment and the different situations you're faced with everyday, which keeps the job interesting. Mallory is devoted to giving the highest level of care to every animal that comes in the clinic, but cats are admittedly extra spoiled with her! She is definitely our in house ‘crazy cat lady’. In the last few years she has travelled to 3 different cat shows in the United States; Minnesota, Illinois and Ohio. This included helping to show different breeds of cats, and observing judging on them based on their breed standards. This was amazing to be a part of, and is a must for any avid cat lover! She is a kitty Mom to her own 2 gorgeous Sphynx cats. Talli who is almost 7, and Esme who is a special type of Sphynx, called an Elf, who is almost 2. If Mallory could own any pet, she would choose a tiger or puma, mostly for maximum cuddle capacity and overall cuteness. On Mallory’s time off, she enjoys relaxing with her Sphynx cats & watching Netflix. You can also find her with her boyfriend Taylen, her family, or on the occasional trip out of town! Mallory is very experienced in animal health and is a fantastic member of our team!
